Team Asham 2022 - 2023 | Team Duncan | Asham Curling

Team goals
Our coach’s goal for us is always to have fun, be a good teammate, and leave it all on the ice.
This year, as we move up to U-18 although three of us are still eligible for U15, we will probably be the youngest team so each game will have goals, and will learn from every end played.

Over the season, we are going to continue to work on physical development, communication, and strategy. At this level, we are also going to need to work on consistency and the mental aspect of the game.

How long have you curled and how did you get started?
I have curled for 10 years. I started because my brother and my parents curled competitively.

What are your curling achievements?
I have won Alberta Winter Games, U15 Provincials, and
U15 Players’ Championship.

What is your most memorable curling moment?
My last shot is to win U15 provincials or go to U18 nationals as an alternate.

If you could give one piece of advice to a young curler, what would it be?
Never give up even if it seems like you can’t do anything.

How long have you curled and how did you get started?
I have been curling for 4 years. I started at a multi-sport camp at the Calgary Winter Club.

What are your curling achievements?
I won U15 provincials and the U15 Players’ Championship in the same year with Team Duncan.

What is your most memorable curling moment?
The last two shots of the final (extra) end during the provincial finals.

If you could give one piece of advice to a young curler, what would it be?
Always be kind and respectful to your opponents, because you will face or even play with them in the future.

How long have you curled and how did you get started?
I have curled since I was about 6. My parents have always been curlers so they got me playing basically as soon as I could. That being said, I’ve only been competitive curling for the past couple of years.

What are your curling achievements?
Our team won the 2022 U15 Provincials and the 2022 U15 Players’ Championship.

What is your most memorable curling moment?
U15 provincials. But not just winning it, the entire tournament was a fantastic experience.

If you could give one piece of advice to a young curler, what would it be?
Keep your head in the game! The moment you get distracted, your performance goes way down.

How long have you curled and how did you get started?
I have curled for about 9 years and I got into it when I saw my mom curling and decided I wanted to give it a try.

What are your curling achievements?
I placed 4th in my age group for the Alberta Hit Draw Tap contest in 2019 and qualified first in the contest in 2022. I have also won the 2022 Curler’s
Corner U15 provincials and the AJCT player’s tournament with Team Duncan.

What is your most memorable curling moment?
My most memorable curling moments came in the 2022 Curler’s Corner U15 provincial finals. My team not only stole a point in the extra to take the game. The whole game was exciting. Even the last stone draw before the game was a total team effort to get our draw to the button closer to the pin by just half a centimeter. (I did a lot of sweeping on that!)

If you could give one piece of advice to a young curler, what would it be?
I would tell young curlers that nothing is impossible if you try your best in practice and work hard to improve yourself. I would also tell them that age does not matter at all. I won U15 at age 12. Nothing is impossible if you practise and try your best.
