Tips For Testing New Shoes
Asham Tips: How to Properly Test New Curling Shoes
When you step into a new pair of curling shoes, it’s important to understand exactly what they’re doing for your delivery. This is especially true if you’re changing key elements like moving to a toe-dipped trailing foot or upgrading your slider disks. Testing methodically can help you adjust faster and get the most out of your new setup.
Isolate One Change at a Time
A common mistake when breaking in new shoes is changing everything at once. Instead, we recommend isolating each foot to better understand how it affects your slide.
Start by pairing your new slider foot with your old trailing shoe. This allows you to feel what the new slider is doing on its own—speed, balance, and consistency—without introducing other variables.
Next, switch it up. Try your old slider foot with your new trailing shoe. This helps you evaluate how changes to your trailing foot—such as a toe-dipped design—impact your line, stability, and release.
By testing this way, you’ll get a clearer picture of how each shoe contributes to your delivery.
Fine-Tune for a Straighter Slide
If you’re using the Asham RDS (Rotator Disk System) and notice that you’re drifting during your slide, don’t panic. One of the advantages of the RDS is adjustability. Simply rotate the slider disk slightly and test again until you find the straightest, most consistent sliding path for your delivery. Learn more about RDS slider options here
