TEAM DESCHENES
Team Deschenes is a competitive U21 Women’s Curling team competing on the Junior Curling Tour of Ontario and the Women’s World Curling Tour. We have had great success both as a team and individually. Among our four members, a highlight of our accomplishments includes one Youth Olympic appearance, six National silver medals, eight National appearances, 13 Provincial titles, and 52 Provincial appearances. As well as competing against world-class teams and winning against 2014 Olympic gold medalist Team Jennifer Jones. Our goal for the upcoming season is to qualify and win the 2023 U21 Canadian Junior Championships and compete as Team Canada at the U21 World Junior Championships.

Question: How long have you curled and how did you get started?
Answer: I have curled for 13 years. I started curling because I saw it on TV while watching the 2010 Olympics and immediately wanted to try it out.

Question: What is your most memorable curling moment?
Answer: My most memorable curling moment is getting the opportunity to represent Canada at the Youth Olympic Games, in Switzerland.
Question: If you could give one piece of advice to a young curler, what would it be?
Answer: Practice as much as you can. Always putting the effort in when you think your goal is out of reach because you will ultimately reach your goal if you keep pushing. As well, as always have a positive attitude even when things seem hard.

Question: How long have you curled and how did you get started?
Answer: This is now my 14th year of curling. I started at the age of 6 at the Richmond Curling Club where my parents were currently playing in the mixed league. I got into curling because my Mom had curled competitively as a teenager as well and wanted to get me into it.
Question: What are your curling achievements?

Question: What is your most memorable curling moment?
Answer: My most memorable curling moment was playing at my first New Holland Canadian Junior Championship in Langley, BC. It was so special wearing the trillium for the first time and an experience I will never forget.
Question: If you could give one piece of advice to a young curler, what would it be?
Answer: One piece of advice I would give to a young curler is to get involved in as many ways as you can. Whether that is volunteering at an event or trying out something new like mixed doubles, getting involved will help you build connections and friendships as well as give back to the sport.

Answer: I have been curling for 12 years and the reason I got into curling was because of my dad.

Question: What is your most memorable curling moment?
Answer: Competing at the 2022 u21 Junior Nationals and winning a silver medal with my 4 best friends.
Question: If you could give one piece of advice to a young curler, what would it be?
Answer: surround yourself with like-minded people who have the same goals as you and practice, practice, practice!!!

Question: How long have you curled for and how did you get started?
Answer: I have curled for 12 years, and I first got started because my older sister and dad had been curling for a few years. I was always at the club interested in watching what they were doing so I tried it and ended up loving it.

Question: What is your most memorable curling moment?
Answer: My most memorable moment in curling is when our team was announced as team Ontario at the start of our first game at the 2022 Canadian Junior Championships.
Question: If you could give one piece of advice to a young curler, what would it be?
Answer: My advice would be to try your best to prioritize the fundamentals and technical side of things in your first years of the sport because it will set you up for consistency and success in the long run.
